EarthDay2017 Venice Beach Trash Report, Saturday, April 22, 2017

Dateline: Saturday, April 22, 2017 / Earth Day 2017.  Today I walked from the northern edge of Venice at Navy St. to the Venice Breakwater and took photos of the accumulation of #beachtrash near the water's edge that the Los Angeles County Dept. of Beaches & Harbors (aka, @LADBCH) has not collected and/or otherwise disposed of.

Obviously, no one from @LACDBH walked along the water's edge today and bothered to hand pick up any #beachtrash.  This is a continuing sad saga at a once well maintained beach.  The failure of @LACDBH to daily or regularly hand pick up #beachtrash near the water's edge at Venice State Beach represents a continuing danger to the health and safety of the beach going public. This is not consistent with the Operating Agreement that @LACDBH has with the State of California (Calif. State Parks) and the L.A. County Board of Supervisors should be very concerned with this continuing liability risk and ongoing public health and safety issue near the water's edge in Venice.

The fix is simple.  Just have an employee of @LACDBH walk along the shoreline and hand pick up the daily accumulation of #beachtrash instead of ignoring it day after day...

Respectfully submitted,

William Maguire,
City of Los Angeles resident
